JDA Systems’ PTUs Support Tests at WSMR - Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Portable Telemetry Systems (PTUs) from JDA Systems were used throughout 2007 at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) to support testing at the Arial Cable Range (ACR). The PTUs were setup at remote sites throughout the test area that were closed during testing. Each PTU was controlled and monitored remotely from a telemetry van via an 802.11g wireless network. Each PTU was outfitted with 2 telemetry receivers, a 2 channel Chapter 10 PCM recorder, and a 2 channel decom. The PTUs were part of a redundant dual-channel telemetry system; each of the 5 different systems collected the same one or two telemetry channels simultaneously from different locations (all controlled from the telemetry van). The positioning and redundancy of the systems ensured that dropouts seen by one system were not seen by another system, allowing the files to be combined into a “Master File” without a single dropout in most cases.

Ft. Huachuca Acquires PTU and Tracking Antenna for UAV Test SupportFt. Huachuca Acquires PTU and Tracking Antenna for UAV Test Support - Wednesday, October 22, 2008

As part of their expansion to UAV Testing facility, Ft. Huachuca has acquired a Portable Telemetry System (PTU) and a Portable Tracking Antenna (JDA Systems’ VT-004). The new system allows for UAV Telemetry support from any platform (Truck, Van, etc). Their single channel system has been configured to automatically acquire and track the telemetry signal and record either analog video or Chapter 4 PCM in Chapter 10 file format. Congratulations Ft. Huachuca on your facility and customer support upgrades!

JDA Systems Introduces the “iRig” Digital ReceiverJDA Systems Introduces the “iRig” Digital Receiver - Wednesday, October 22, 2008

The “iRig” Digital Receiver is the result of a multi-year research and development program that applies the latest digital technology to products for the flight test industry. “iRig” was designed from the ground up to offer substantial technical advantages over traditional telemetry products. Besides the improvements in RF reception performance, the iRig has the ability to bit-synchronize and derendomize the base-band and simultaneously send the received data to a host PC via USB for soft-decommutation and recording. This truly is an all-in-one, next generation telemetry system.

Improved Bit-Synchronizer for PCI-SD4 allows for data rates to 30MbpsImproved Bit-Synchronizer for PCI-SD4 allows for data rates to 30Mbps - Wednesday, October 22, 2008

JDA Systems has completed a new bit-sync daughter board for the PCI-SD4 and USB-Decom. The new design was created to handle much higher bit rates than the previous design.  Upgrading requires replacing the old bitsync with the newer design, or just plugging in the new bitsync daughter card if no bit sync was previously installed. After that, a simple software update will allow the new bitsync to work.

Please contact JDA Systems for more information!

USB Telemetry Devices Turn Any Computer into a Complete Telemetry System - Wednesday, October 22, 2008

JDA Systems offers a variety of USB controlled telemetry devices. These devices are designed to operate with notebook computers to create portable telemetry systems as well as more permanent rack mounted systems. The USB interfaces allow for quick and easy, plug-and-play setup at any location. When combined with the VuSoft decom and control software, these cutting edge USB devices have the ability to turn almost any computer into a complete telemetry system.

USB Decom Appliance (USB-DA)

The USB-DA can recover (2) simultaneous baseband, RS422 or TTL PCM serial input streams at up to 20 Mbps per channel. External or internal IRIG A, B or G can be used for time tagging of each PCM stream.

(2) PCM encoders are also included on the USB-DA with multiple format types and RS422 or TTL outputs. Access to all of the signals is made easy via BNC connectors. Optionally (2) digital bit synchronizer channels maybe added to provide a complete self-contained USB PCM decom unit connectable to any PC.

VuSoft provides the USB-DA I/O, setup, data processing and display. USB-DA PCM streams along with the IRIG time can be recorded to disk and or broadcast over a network in fully compliant IRIG106 Chapter 10 format.

USB Multi-Band Receiver (VT-RC-70)

The VT-RC-70 is a rugged, compact FM telemetry receiver covering the S, L and NATO bands. The small size allows it to be installed in or near the telemetry antenna removing signal cable loss and the requirement for signal amplification. USB interfaces make the VT-RC-70 easy to install and use. USB extenders are available to allow the positioning of the VT-RC-70 up to 500 meters from the controlling computer. Controlling the VT-RC-70 is simple with the provided PC based driver and any serial port command software. Optionally the VT-RC-70 has VuSoft support for a full graphical programming interface and integration into end-to-end telemetry systems.

USB Controlled Portable Tracking Antenna (VT-004)

The VT-004 is a lightweight, portable tracking antenna that can receive signals in the L or S band and can track from directly overhead down to below the horizon with unrestricted azimuth rotation. It is excellent for flight line applications and small test ranges and can be transported by commercial aircraft. A transparent radome is available for permanent outdoor installations.

The 19 dB gain S-band phase array head tracks objects at extended distances offering an alternative to traditional tracking antennas of a much greater size. A color video camera with 14:1 optical zoom and 200:1 digital zoom is mounted to view the antenna tracking centerline. Calibration is automatically carried out on start up and continuously during operation. An optional GPS navigation system and electronic compass allow the antenna to know its three-dimensional position in respect to the earth at all times.

VuSoft and CPAS can now feed data to IADS - Monday, July 06, 2009

An interface to Symvionics IADS (Interactive Analysis and Display System) software is now available for the VuSoft and CPAS software packages.  Now any data that is being decoded or recorded in any VuSoft or CPAS system can be simultaneously fed into the IADS CDS for display on any IADS Real-time Client.  The interface works with real-time data received using the PCI-SD4 decom or the USB Decom as well as any data being played back from Chapter 10!

The VuSoft IADS interface is very easy to use...  just select the parameters that you want to send to IADS and start decoding data, all of the selected parameters will be immediately available to IADS and to all of the standard VuSoft displays..  The IADS interface even automatically overwrites the Parameter Definition file (iadsCDS.prn) used by the CDS making it very easy to reconfigure and view another PCM format.

For more information, or to order the IADS interface for your VuSoft installation, please contact us at sales@jdasystems.com, or contact your local sales representative.
